I came out to Seattle for my daggers wedding and stayed at the Days Inn next door to the restaurant on my last night. My parents from Nebraska dropped me off at my hotel after the wedding. It was a beautiful church wedding, a long and fun day and we thought we would have one "night cap" before saying goodbye. We went to the restaurant next door as referred by the hotel front desk.<br />
When we got there the sign said open til 10:00 pm, and it was only shortly after 9:00 pm.<br />
We were greeted in a very cold manner, told we could sit where we wanted and we explained we were just there to have a cocktail and were told she would get there when she could, but she was the only one there. We were reminded of this on several occasions.<br />
I noticed one table of four in the dining area and one table of 3 people in the bar.<br />
She finally came and took our drink order, we were very friendly, even though she was clearly not happy about having to take another table.<br />
My parents each ordered a beer, and I had a mixed drink. <br />
Shortly after, at a level which everyone was meant to hear, she announced she was way behind on her clean up work, hadn't mopped yet, and hadn't done whatever her closing chores were yet. How the owners had cut everyone's hours back, yet she was so busy. This was at 9:30 pm. She NEVER came back and checked on our table, went and mopped, BS'd with someone in the lobby for a long time, etc. When she finally came back, 20 or so minutes later to give last call, we were tired of waiting for another cocktail and were getting ready to leave. I told her that had she come back to check on us, I certainly would have ordered, but too much time had gone by. Then, as another guest arrived, she announced once again about how she was there alone and she could handle it just fine, but "sometimes, she gets rude people that get impatient" or something to that extent. I then remarked in her same level of voice that we were never rude, but she never came back and even asked how we were doing. She also told me my drink was full the last tie she came by our table (which about 5 minutes after we were served).<br />
She walked us to the door, trying to not be snotty, saying too bad we felt that way, but .. excuse, excuse , excuse. I told her I was no stranger to waiting tables and her job was to serve her customers. The place had potential, but staffing is something the owner should be aware of. It was a very unpleasant experience. I was shocked in the way we were treated.
