I really don't know what happened to this place. It used to be a pretty decent restaurant, but everything is horrible now. By everything, I mean, the food and the service, which honestly, I don't expect a lot from when I go there. However, they have officially hit a new low. My family ordered a simple meal, crispy chicken noodle in soup, assorted beef noodle in soup and finally, the disgusting bowl of crap they called assorted pork congee. Their total disregard to our concern was even more disgusting though. We first told the waiter that our congee had some questionable looking meat in it and he asked “what congee was this?” with a confused look on his face. We answered and he just walked away and didn’t come back with ANY answer for us. Wow, that’s VERY reassuring for me as a customer eating this questionable bowl of garbage. As we were waiting for an answer from him because we thought he was going to come back, we decided to try the congee anyway. BAD IDEA! It turns out, everything in the congee tasted stale, dry (even though it’s in congee), and just disgusting. We talked with the same waiter again and this time, we informed him that the ingredients in the congee all tasted stale and weird. He had that same look on his face so finally, we asked for the manager. He said ‘sure’, but instead of getting the manager for us, we motioned to her several times ourselves before she even noticed us. But fine, people are not always aware of their environment even though she is the manager and I would expect a little awareness. As for the waiter, I don’t know what to even say about him. Anyway, she comes over and we communicate to her the same comments we said to the waiter. She replies with “I’ll go try it in the kitchen” and walks away. So we’re waiting and waiting, at this point, we’re ready to just get the bill and leave extremely disappointed. She finally comes back and simply tells us “I tried it and the congee’s fine” and yes, that’s it. This whole time, we actually tried to keep the issue on the down low since we’re not here to make a scene. In hindsight though, maybe there was actually a need for making a scene due to the way we were being treated. Brushing off our quiet concern makes it non-existent, oh wait, IT DOESN'T! However, in that situation, apparently, it does. Needless to say, I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Kenny’s Gourmet. I don’t expect a delicious meal since you get what you pay for, but I also don’t expect to pay people to disregard my concerns about the food that I eat. I didn’t ask for anything besides a simple explanation on why my food tasted stale, dry and disgusting. Just because you tell me that you’ve tried it and it was fine doesn’t make it fine. I know what I ate. If you don’t think that your customers deserve any attention or explanation, well, good luck with your business! I’m never going back to this place ever again. Oh, by the way, we paid for the bowl of crap that we barely touched it in full price. I never ranted about a restaurant like this before, yet I realized that having my concerns completely disregarded really, really pissed me off. You can disregard us, but it doesn’t mean that our concerns are non-existent. (repost)
