Reviews of 3rd Street Cafe
04/07/2015 - Randy
My wife and I brought my sister to the 3rd Street Cafe for lunch today after finding out she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. We have enjoyed the food and the service in this establishment many times in the past. Today however was very different. My wife and I along with my brother-in-law ordered the chicken quesadillas. We were immediately disappointed as we looked at the quesadillas. They were very flat with afew vegetables, minimal cheese and 2 small cubes of chicken in each. My brother-in-law commented to me stating, "It was lucky they gave as some sour cream salsa on the side to add to the flat shells." When the nice young server asked how everything was I stated, "I'm glad you asked, the quesadillas were very poor, there were only afew small vegetables and a couple small pieces of chicken in each flat portion. Compared to every other quesadilla I have ordered these were the worst." She was very nice and asked if I would like something else and when I declined she offered to take the order off our bill which I was quite happy with. Shortly after that another young lady approached our table stating, "I am the manager and I am only allowed to take 50% off your bill. " I replied, "Well 50% is exactly what was in my quesadilla." She became very rude stating that I was very negative and that I had made the staff feel bad about the order. I was astonished, I have never been spoken to by anyone like that before and I certainly did not deserve to be treated in such an unprofessional and discourteous manner. After leaving the 3rd Street Cafe my family members each stated that was the most inappropriate display they had ever witnessed by a restaurant employee, let alone a manager. This experience ruined my family's day foreshadowing the sad news of my sister's cancer by a eatery's young inexperienced rude manager's power trip. If she would have minded her own business and simply apologized for the poor quantity of food we would have remained loyal patrons. As it turned out, we will never be back.
