I appreciate the line moving quickly, don't need to chat... amazing stuff. Nothing artificial, cool.

I've been here many times, and always had polite, fast service. They're always quite busy, but maybe that's because I usually go in the evenings. I've never asked for a sample there, but I don't usually ask for them anywhere. I don't assume that any food or ice cream shop offers free samples - why should they? They would end up losing a LOT of money if they gave everyone free samples, I would think. They have delicious homemade ice cream in basic and creative flavors. My family and I only go to Boombalatti's!

I also had terrible customer service! The young girl at the counter was very rude when I asked for a sample. (unaware of their no sample policy) she then practically threw my cup at me and stormed off. Not sure if she had just one too many people ask for a sample or what. I left in a bad mood thanks to her.
The ice cream was good, but it was ruined by my lousy experience.

Worst Customer Service Ever! A group of 4 of us went to this establishment for some ice cream after having dinner next door. After discovering that they would not give samples of the ice cream we decided we would get the 4 small scoop sampler together so we all could try different ice creams to then place an order for our sundaes. So each of us chose a flavor to be one of the four. One of the members of our group did not realize that the child with us had a peanut allergy and ordered a flavor containing peanuts. We asked the OWNER (not a teenage minimum wage worker) if we could put that one scoop in a separate small plastic container since if the child came into contact with any peanut type material he could experience an anaphylactic reaction, which could affect his ability to breathe. The OWNER would not let us do this and when we tried to explain the severity of the allergy, the owner became argumentative, to the point that we just decided to leave. This was unfortunate because then you had the guest who ordered the peanut butter flavor without knowing of the allergy feeling bad for having ordered it, and the child feeling bad for having the dumb luck of being born with an allergy. It is for the Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced that I give this restaurant the worst rating possible. It is for the same reason that I will never return to, bring my guests to, or recommend this establishment ever again. I have read other reviews on multiple sites about the terrible attitude/rudeness of the owner or bad customer service. I do not care how good the product is or isn't, I absolutely will not support a business with such a mean owner.

Thought the ice cream there was great!! Folks visiting from out of town loved it as well. Didn't have any service issues...maybe give a place a chance before writing it off due to one bad experience....

My husband and I go to Boombs all the time and it truly is the best ice cream in town. We love it and we love the owners. They are very hard working and always in the shop. Kevin and Michelle are really great people who also work hard to support local charities. We think they rock.

We are locals here in Wilmington, that is where you want your business from but we will limit our visit to Boombalatti due to the very rude service. We recently went to get ice cream there and end up with not so good ice cream and the service was horrible. If you are going to be in business to service the public maybe you should learn how to be FRIENDLY!!!!!!!! We like to support local business but sadly every time we have been to Boombalatti's the customer service is horrible. Get a life and learn to service the public.

Best ice cream and service ever! We found this place last year and had to come back on our first day back to Wilmington all the way from MO. Visited with the owner and found out he is from around the same area that we are from!! Wonderful!Absolutely love the ice cream!!!!

24 flavors...no air added. The real deal.

review_stars 09/01/2010 - Auds
Great service! Great icecream! The 4 mini scoops were just enough!

review_stars 08/09/2010 - Erin
Loved it!!! tried the sampler with 4 different mini scoops, was perfect...wonderful ice cream! The worker was nice as can be...so please try it... great experience.

review_stars 06/12/2010 - Jake
Great ice cream, horrible service. I was actually surprised just how bad the service was. You would think ice cream would be happy with a smile, but here it's more like ice cream with a grumble and a glare. But the product is good, just don't ask for a sample or a special order.

Oh.. the best in wilmington!!! I use to live there and be friends with owners brother so we use to frequent it often... I am in gso and go when at the beach... but its so good my sister who still lives in wilmington always finds time to call an brag that she is drinking a peanut butter milkshake from there... The best by far... and as fr the negatives about the owners... they are nice people they are just northerners so dont get offeneded.... just kidding u guys

Ice cream is amazing but the owner Kevin is not very personable. I know they work hard but service is always the best part. They should try to appreciate customer's more. Still, ice cream is to die for.

review_stars 10/14/2009 - Kurt
Although it has been many years since I've visited Kevin and Michelle, it is nice to see so many people who appreciate their ice cream and all the hard work they've put into their business.
They work ten to twelve hour days everyday of the week and juggle raising a family as well. Not an easy thing.
It bothers me to read some of the reviews in which the people have gone beyond just saying whether or not they like the product and resorted to name calling.
True, I am partial to Kevin and his family. He is my brother.
He may have beaten me up for listening to his Fleetwood Mac album or given me a full Melvin wedgie, or told me that Elvis killed himself because he heard it was my birthday, but he would never, never treat a customer rudely.
He reserves that for me.
His brother. :)

This is hands down the best ice cream we have ever eaten in any state!

review_stars 08/17/2009 - Anna
Best ice cream in the state!!! It's my favorite ice cream of anywhere I've ever been - very rich and creamy. Homemade from milk from local farms, so it's very fresh, too.

If eating local and/or organic is important to you, this is the place to go!

when I called Boombalatti's to ask if their ice cream contained gluten (because I have an allergy), they were extremely rude to me. They spoke to me as if I was unaware of what my own allergy was (the woman informed me that gluten was a wheat product, when I know very well what gluten is). Thw woman was very condescending and snarky. I will inform all of my friends about this and will personally never go there myself.

Amazing ice cream! AMAZING!

Those of you complaining about the service-I am friends with the owners' daughter, and they're really nice people, I don't know why people are saying it's bad service. But ohhhhkay...

review_stars 04/20/2009 - MenuPix User
Best Ice Cream Ever. I have taken a lot of different people here and its great. All flavors taste great. AND everyone I have ever gone with has been happy. So glad they are still around.

review_stars 08/27/2008 - kjscap
My favorite ice cream place in town and maybe beyond! The most important factor is that they use local sources that are hormone free. Can't beat that! Plus, you can choose a four-flavor sampler-how fun is that? Service is fine. Naysayers are obviously Yankee tourists!

review_stars 07/25/2008 - MenuPix User
awful service! not impressed with ice cream at all.

review_stars 07/17/2008 - Matt, Wilmington, NC
Rude people, poor service. Bought some ice cream and an ice cream cake and before heading out the door, my 4 yr old wanted to taste one of the ice creams. The girl at the counter ignored me and when I asked Kevin, the owner, for a taste, I was told that "they don't do samples." This, after spending about $25... rude and uncalled for. No more business for you, Kevin. You are a jackass!

The every night highlight of our summer vacation!

review_stars 05/08/2008 - MenuPix User
Very rude people behind the counter. The ice cream did not taste good. Overpriced. And they decided to add their own tip to my card after I had already signed for a certain amount. Will never go back, there are much better places that are worth going to.

We found this place on our last day in Wilmington this visit, and we can't wait to go back! Even beats our homemade ice cream place back at home, It will be our first place to visit when we get back down there...

review_stars 02/05/2008 - MenuPix User
This is by far the best ice cream in Wilmington. All the flavors are homemade, and if you don't know what to get, you can get 4 or 8 mini-scoops and try different flavors! It is amazing ice cream, and the service is great!

review_stars 09/10/2007 - MenuPix User
I live in Wilmington and this is my FAVORITE ice cream place ever! Yum!!

review_stars 07/04/2007 - Melojake
WOW! We've been to Wilmington quite a few times and this last trip when we found Boombalatti's was the best yet!! We will have to eat here everytime we visit!!

review_stars 06/22/2007 - MenuPix User
While visiting Wrightsville Beach, we happened upon Boombalatti's and it was the best part of the whole trip. I'd drive the 2 1/2 hours to eat that ice cream!!!

review_stars 06/10/2007 - Meghann
Boombalatti's is my favorite place in Wilmington! Ice cream is my favorite food, and they have the best I've ever had. Try the 4-scoop sampler--it's almost more ice cream than you can eat for only $2.50!

review_stars 03/23/2007 - Natasha
For the BEST ice cream in town, try Boombalatti's!! The best part is that you don't have to choose just one flavor....they have a "sampler" where you get mini scoops of several different flavors!!! AWESOME!!! And...they DONATE their tips to The Full Belly Project, an international development organization based in Wilmington, NC!!!
