Restaurant Description

Bates House of Turkey is a family-owned Alabama legend where folks gather for dishes like our famous hickory smoked turkey sandwich or our old-fashioned roast turkey dinner. It all started in 1923 when the Bates family opened our free-range turkey farm. As the farm became more successful, we opened the doors to our restaurant in 1969 just 12 miles down the road from our farm, and the rest is history.

We ordered the turkey dinner. There was one slice of turkey, about 1/8 inch thick, like deli turkey. The cornbread stuffing was tasteless as was the gravy. The best thing on my plate was the green beans and my husband liked the cranberry relish. Our first plates were barely warm and they did replace the dinners with warmer food, but still not good. We will not go back and we’re very disappointed.
