Out here in the Arkansas prairies, R.A. Pickens and Son Country Store and Restaurant serves up hearty, home-cooked meals made with fresh, local ingredients that remind me of the way farmers eat after a long day in the fields. Their daily specials like chicken fried steak, meatloaf, and catfish come with a variety of southern-style vegetables cooked just right, and you definitely have to save room for their homemade pies and cobblers. This old farm commissary has a warm, welcoming vibe where the food tastes like it's made with care by folks who truly know southern cooking.
