12/24/2012 - Ms. Food Critic
The restaurant is beautiful but the food was not what I would expect from a more "upscale" restaurant. We started with the Bruschetta appetizer and it was only fair. There were 4 small piece of toasted bread, about 1" x 2" in size, with lots of chopped tomato on top for $8. We had 5 in our party so 4 tiny pieces didn't go very far. The tomato mixture didn't seem to have much garlic, olive oil or parmesan cheese in it. Very bland and dry. Salads were fairly good in that they contained more than just greens, although, the salad wasn't cold so the greens were somewhat wilty. Three out of four ordered ribeye steaks. All were overcooked. Two out of the three were almost half fat and gristle. One had prime rib which was reported to be good and one had "whitefish" which was good. The herb mashed potatoes appeared to me to be leftover baked potatoes that were mashed up. Could be wrong, but that is what it looked and tasted like. Baked potatoes were overbaked, not white and fluffy. The server was great; she made sure the water and tea glasses were kept full and the dishes were removed promptly. The food was the main disappointment. Only 1 person had a glass of wine and the bill with tax and tip was just short of $200. They are going to have to do better than this if they want return customers.
