I have there w several times over 15 years and they were pretty good.
I was there today, Aug. 6, 2023. It was terrible. I ordered the fish and chips and they were over fried. My chips and fish were over fried. One piece of fish was so thin it was a hard crisp. I also got a slice of their pizza. It was so over cooked there was no cheese pull and the pepperoni was a total crisp I was charged for everything. I definitely will not go back

I have been coming to Madison garden since lee surroundered to grant. I always look forward to going. Their food is varied and excellent. And their chicken wings the best that chicken wings can be. The atmosphere is great with low lights and a mix of people. The beer goes down smooth and colder than a mother in laws love. The waiters and waitresses are fine as is the manager. It is the best college hang out place in Madison county. Many people have many memories there when the university of Kentucky is playing sports or there is the Kentucky derby you can get great views of the events as you dine. I highly recommend Madison gardens for anyone who wants to relax and enjoy life.
No sweat

I just spent $37 ($31 bill plus $5.41 tip for CARRYOUT) at MADISON GARDEN. When I opened my food, I had no butter for my baked potato, no tartar sauce for my fish, no ranch for my friend green tomatoes and no silverware. I went back to get what was missing and the girls were super-nice, but the "manager" was a complete jerk. He argued with me about the tartar sauce being there and had the audacity to charge me 39¢ for the cup of ranch dressing.

I've never been so angry on my life. I swore I would never go back and that I would spread the word about how AWFUL their customer service is. Apparently, at MADISON GARDEN, the customer is not only not right but also lying.

Our group happened upon this place on a recommendation from a student at EKU. I was impressed with their beer selection, their menu, and the fact that they were a locally owned and operated eatery and not a chain restaurant. When I travel, I like to check out local fare. Unfortunately, I had the worst dining experience I could've imagined.
Our server greeted us in a decent amount of time (one of probably only 2 good points). 2 of the 4 in our group ordered water while we checked out the beer list and the other 2 ordered beers. The beers come after about 5 minutes but we didn't get our waters....ever! We got our beers a few minutes after ordering but then our server disappeared for about 10 minutes before coming back to take our dinner order. Here's where it STARTS getting bad. Our server takes our order strictly from memory (mistake #1). I ordered the Tom's Big -ss Pasta. It says if you eat the entire dinner, you get a FREE T-SHIRT. You have 45 minutes to finish and the cost is $18.99. The regular sized portion of pasta dish I chose is $12.99, but I was up for the challenge, despite the fact it was just after 5:00pm and we had plans to be somewhere close at 6:15...plenty of time to try and tackle this challenge. I'm allergic to cheese so I made sure to tell the server to HOLD THE CHEESE. She asked me if I meant parmesan to which I replied 'yes'. 5 minutes later she comes back to tell us that another server was going to be taking over for her. Becca, our new server, greeted us and I made sure to tell her 'no cheese' as well, just in case the server was the one to add cheese after the plate left the kitchen. She told me that I had to eat it the way it came and I told her that if there was no way to order it without cheese, I'd have to order something different. She said she'd talk to the kitchen and didn't return with an answer either way. 10 minutes later, our food arrives...at least for 3 out of the 4. My plate of pasta was set down in front of me, covered in parmesan cheese. I told her I was allergic to cheese and that I couldn't eat it to which she replied 'I tried to tell them, but it was too late'. Too late? So my food sat in the window for 10 minutes? Or you never said anything? They removed the plate of pasta and said they could remake it. It took almost 25 minutes to get our food (and one of us still hadn't received his). Since I only had 45 minutes to finish this plate of pasta and we had to be somewhere in 45 minutes, I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes for them to remake it, so I told her I'd order something else. She came back, apologized, and said they would take it off our bill and even remake it at no charge. Here is where it became a TERRIBLE experience:
The manager comes to the table and asked if one of us ordered the pasta. I told her I did and explained what happened and she offered to make me another one. I was hoping for an apology, especially since I was looking forward to this challenge for 2 days (I looked at the menu online). I told her I didn't have time since we had plans after dinner and because it took so long, there was no way I could do it. SHE TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T TAKE IT OFF MY BILL IF I DIDN'T LET THEM REMAKE IT! After having worked in the restaurant industry for years and eating out for just about every meal for the last 10 years (wife and I don't cook very often at all), I've NEVER been told this. I told her I told 2 servers 'no cheese'. She asked our original server if I told her no cheese and she replied 'I didn't hear him say no cheese'. Considering the manager tried to get me to pay for a meal I couldn't eat when I was clear about my request, they probably made her pay for it if she made an error, so I don't completely blame her for LYING. Had I not been with a group of 4, I would've got up and left at this point. Afterall, one of my friends still hadn't received his dinner yet. The manager said she was going to talk to the owner, came back 5 minutes later, and told us she'd take it off our bill. I ended up ordering some french fries ($4.59?), still paid for them, and left at 6:00. Not only did I tell the people walking in the door about my experience (thankfully the 3 of them walked back out after entering), I made sure to tell as many of the 400 people at our seminar as well as a few passing motorists along the way.
To show how much this experience bothered me, it happened 24 hours ago and I'm still somewhat upset about it. NEVER in 35 years have I been treated this way at a restaurant. It amazes me that they've been in business this long.
They say that 10 % of people will report when they have a good experience and 84% will report when they have a bad experience. The only good thing about this experience was my beer was cold. People go back to restaurants for the customer service. This is one place that probably will NEVER get another chance with me because of the way they treated us and I feel I'd be doing a disservice to not tell everyone about it.
