I decided to try the restaurant because it was close by. The food tasted ok but nothing out of the ordinary. My complaints are (1) when I walked into the restaurant, there were two waitresses. One was on her phone and never looked up to greet me. The other was waiting on a couple who came in after me, not nice! (2) I ordered the loaded burger with mushrooms and onions. The burger had very little, if any seasoning. I was given two mushrooms! That's it, just two. (3) I exchanged the fries for onion rings, a $4 difference, and received four onion rings. (5) The last complaint are the prices. I asked the waitress if the prices are the same as the Facebook menu and she said, yes and rolled her eyes! She wasn't very nice at all. Anyway, I was charged $47 for a loaded burger and a fried chicken sandwich to go! No drinks, no desserts, just two sandwiches!!

South of the Border is consistently good!!! Have been going for years and the new owner is doing a GREAT job. In todays market it’s difficult to hire people so please give people a break!!! So proud of you Megan…I’ll be back soon♥️♥️♥️

You can’t beat South of the Border for its seafood and meat dishes, and for reasonable prices. So dependably delicious!

Very sad when the only time you meet the owner of an establishment like The South of The Border she has come into another business with two of her waitresses and they cus and scream like idiots at the customers in that establishment. very trashy indeed. would never enter her place of business.

Went and ate at South of the Border after looking at the menu on the web. When we got there, after driving 1 1/2 hours to get there, the menu pricing was about 4 or 5 dollars more on everything. we mentioned this to them and they denied having a website or having their menu on the web. We ordered hanburger steaks with onions, mushroom, and gravey. Their menu boast that their gravey is homemade. I can assure you that gravey was not homemade, it may have been a mix that they had to stir up but homemade it was not. The steaks came out with cheese on them and we specifically said no cheese. They took it back and scrapped the cheese off and brought them back. The owner was rude and argumentative and their cook could not cook. I would not recommend this restuarant after our experience.

This restaurant is a nice country drive from Baton Rouge. The atmosphere is great - white tablecloths and southern hospitality. The staff is great and the menu is full of variety. We try to go once a weekend and order the cried chicken breast, the fried catfish or whitefish "nyma". They even have fried green tomato items on the menu! A great family place.
