- Ice Wine 2020
- Michigan’s weather conditions during the grape growing season 2020 were exceptional for making ice wine. Early cold temperatures were ideal to freeze the healthy and ripe Vidal Blanc grapes. The grapes were quickly harvested while still the berries were frozen, and we were able to make this aromatic and special wine after many years of waiting (The last ice wine we produced was in 2013!). Enjoy this amazing dessert wine with hearty cheeses or on its own. - Port first became popular when the English were at war with France and therefore couldn’t drink French wines. In the seafaring days when this occurred, something had to be done to wine to allow it to survive the long ocean journeys. The addition of grape spirits allowed the wine to last longer and to be more resistant to temperature changes. Wines altered in this way are called “fortified wines.” Our unique Cherrivino was made with Montmorency cherry wine (cherries from Door County, Wisconsin) fortified with Grape Spirits from Fresno, California., and blended from multiple vintage years with long aging in American oak barrels. - Sparkling Peach
- To produce this delicious wine we used whole, fresh, Red Haven Peaches grown in Michigan. This dark red and golden variety is well known as a dessert peach, and also to be one of the top choices for bakers due to its exceptional flavor. A clean and slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks, at 55 degrees, produced a crisp and refreshing base wine. The second fermentation, where the bubbles were produced, was made through Charmat Method, allowing the development of a beautiful perlage and elegance secondary flavors. - Aranbois Port
- Aranbois is Lynfred’s first blueberry port wine. Rich in flavor and texture, this port wine is beautiful by itself or paired with chocolate and/or rich cheese. The name ‘Aranbois’ is a play on the Spanish word for Blueberry, ‘arándano’, the Spanish word for blueberry. 375 ml. Blueberry wine fortified with grape spirits. Grower: Cascade Mountains, WA. Residual Sugar: 8.0%. Alcohol: 18.5%.
- Cherrivino Port
- Montmorency Cherry Wine was the first commercial wine made at Lynfred Winery and it remains a staple on the Lynfred wine list. Lynfred winemakers Andres Basso and Rodrigo Gonzalez decided to create a port-style wine from the famous Door County (WI) cherries and the result is a big, bold and aromatic wine with attractive flavors – the perfect end to a big meal!

- Port first became popular when the English were at war with France and therefore couldn’t drink French wines. The English went in search of a new location to set up vineyards and the Duoro Valley in Portugal proved to be quite suitable. The vineyards are laid out along very steep hills, terraced to provide footing for the vines. In the seafaring days when this occurred, something had to be done to wine to allow it to survive the long ocean journeys. The addition of brandy (grape spirits) allowed the wine to last longer and to be more resistant to temperature changes. Wines altered in this way are called “fortified wines.” Our unique Lynfred Ruby Reserve was made with Cabernet Sauvignon & Sangiovese wines, fortified with brandy from Fresno, California and blended from multiple vintages with a long aging in American oak barrels.

- Ciruela is Lynfred’s first plum port wine. Made from Damson plums, this dessert wine is truly an outstanding treat. Plum, cedar, cinnamon and almond aromas followed by layers of vanilla, oak and raisin flavors will pair well with many foods especially Cantonese dishes. The name ‘Ciruela’ means plum in Spanish. 375 ml. Plum wine fortified with grape spirits. Grower: Michigan. Residual Sugar: 9.0%. Alcohol: 18%.

- Chardonnay 2018 Reserve
- Our Reserve Chardonnay was crafted in an aromatic and floral style, but was also barrel aged for a few months. We periodically stirred the wine in the barrels, known as surlie, to enhance the Color and elegance of the final blend. This Chardonnay is rich in floral notes with hints of toasted almond, French vanilla and a pleasant fruitiness. Blend/Grower: 85% Chardonnay from Kamiak Vineyards, Snake River, Washington and 15% Viognier from Ripon, California.
- Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Reserve
- This full-bodied wine shows fabulous notes of creme de cassis and a rich complexity of spicy flavors given by a long aging in new American oak barrels. It reached a perfect balance between oak and dark red fruits. This Cabernet is ready to drink now but can also be aged in the bottle for a few more years. Blend: 95% Cabernet, 5% Merlot. - Peach Wine
- Lynfred Winery fruit wines are made from whole fruit. It takes, on average, three to five pounds of fruit to make one bottle of Lynfred fruit wine. This delicious peach wine was made with 100% peaches from Greece. About 20 different varieties of peaches are cultivated in Greece, mostly in the northern region of Macedonia. There, the temperate, sunny summers, avid autumn rains, and cool winters make the climate perfect to produce one of the best peaches that we can found.

- The Muscat of Alexandria grape is considered an ancient vine, one of the oldest genetically-unmodified vines still in existence. It originated (as its name suggests) around the great city of Alexandria, at the west edge of the Nile Delta in Egypt. Today this grape is widely used in sweet wine production in Europe and grape spirits in Chile and South America. Enjoy our Muscat of Alexandria made in a superb new-world wine style.
- Marsanne Chardonnay
- Marsanne is a white wine grape, most found in the Northern Rhône region of France. It is often blended with Roussanne and other whites. Wines produced mostly from Marsanne grapes have low acidity and develop a silky, exotic, oily texture. We kept the Marsanne portion over its fine lees for almost two years to enhance its creamy texture. Then, we blended with a young, crisp, and refreshing Chardonnay from Columbia Valley, Washington. The final wine shows a velvety, yet crisp character. This gorgeous blend will be stunning paired with a variety of poultry and fish dishes, as well as salads and many mild cheeses.

- Along with Chardonnay, Riesling is one of the most famous white grapes in the world. Originating in the Rhine region of Germany, Rieslings often show a superb balance of ripeness and acidity, producing all styles from crisp, dry versions to rich, sweet late-harvest wines. Columbia Valley in Washington is an ideal are for growing Riesling because the soil and climatic conditions are outstanding for its production. In fact, no place in the United States produces more Riesling than the Columbia Valley.

- Rose'
- Before starting the fermentation of our reserve red wines we use a special technique named “Saignée” (from French). This is the practice of removing (“bleeding off”) some of the juice from the must in order to more deeply concentrate the tannins, color and flavor in the red wines. This rose was made with 45% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Petite Sirah juices allowing one day of maceration over their skins. The rich juice produced was cleaned by cold settling and fermented at low temperature like a regular white to preserve all the fresh fruity aromas and flavors in a dry medium body rose style.

- Originated in the Rhine region of Germany. Along with Chardonnay, Riesling is one of the top white grapes in the world. In the United States Washington’s Columbia Valley has solidified as the country’s premier Riesling region, showing a superb balance of ripeness and acidity. Although often assumed to be a sweet wine by American wine drinkers, Rieslings have the potential to make wines that range from bone dry to overwhelmingly sweet & dessert-like. Our 2019 Lynfred Winery Riesling has an impeccable balance of sweetness and acidity.

- Seyval Blanc is an American-French hybrid grape cultivated specifically for its propensity to ripen early and thrive in cool climates. In the Finger Lakes region, and here in the Midwest, Seyval Blanc makes an excellent alternative to Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc – both grapes that aren’t particularly fond of the cold.
- Pinot Grigio 2018
- Pinot Grigio grapes, also called Pinot Gris, produce a light, acidic white wine. Italy is the biggest producer, specifically Lombardy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, but Pinot Grigio is also grown and produced in the Alsace region of France, as well as Australia, Oregon, California and Washington. - The Muscat grapes for this vintage came from Colavita Vineyards, a fourth-generation, family-owned vineyard in Lodi, CA. The 2015 vintage was one of the earliest harvests in California history and the Muscat grapes for this particular wine were harvested July 22. The Muscat grape family consists of over 200 grape varieties and is known to be one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. Muscat is also the only grape to produce wine with the same aroma as the grape itself and is categorized as one of the ‘four aromatics’ (Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Viognier and Riesling). Muscat can be made from dry to sweet, and our 2015 vintage runs on the dry side at only 1% residual sugar.

- Petite Sirah, also known as the Durif grape, is one of the biggest, most powerful and tannic wines produced in America. Petite Sirah is often used to literally ‘beef up’ other wines, such as thin Cabernets or wines that could use a little tannic boost. As a stand-alone varietal, it’s praised for being a chewy wine that defies its ‘little’ name. Our 2017 Petite Sirah was made from 100% Petite Sirah grapes from Heringer Estates in California. The wine shows a beautiful balance of tannins and rich flavors of oak, raisins and spice.

- Teroldego is the leading indigenous red variety in Trentino-Alto Adige, a northeastern region of Italy at the southern tip of Austria and Switzerland. In California this variety has been cultivated since a couple decades ago for production of deep, dark, red blends. California Teroldegos tend to be bigger than their Italian counterparts. This variety offers versatility to be produced in different styles, from young and fruity to aged and complex wines. Our exclusive 2017 Teroldego was made with grapes from Clarksburg, California; blending a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington to enhance the body and oaky character of the final wine.

- Pinot Noir is the 10th most widely planted grape in the world. Well known as the red grape of Burgundy – France. Pinot Noir is a challenging grape to grow and can also be quite difficult to vinify. - A traditional Bordeaux varietal, Malbec is now the most widely planted red wine grape in Argentina. - Rosso Leggero
- To create this rose’ wine, we drained out part of the juice of a freshly crushed Pinot Noir after 24 hours of maceration. This slightly pink-colored juice was then fermented over fresh Muscat grape skins. The fermentation was carried out at low temperatures to keep the aromas and flavors from both varieties. The result was a rose’ wine with refreshing and vibrant aromas of cherry, pineapple and lychee. Inspired by the Italian saying, ‘dolce far niente’ or ‘sweet and simple lifestyle’, this wine was named Rosso Leggero. Enjoy this exclusive wine now or later in the year, especially with friends and family.
