The Root Cellars restaurant is known to be the finest dining establishment in the Western Upper Peninsula. During a recent trip to the UP, I enjoyed an excellent fish fry with light, crispy batter and some of the best prime rib I've ever had, which says a lot coming from someone living in Dallas with many steakhouse options. The lodging was clean and comfortable, perfect for groups, and the friendly owners along with the fresh salad bar and great service made the whole experience memorable-I'm already planning to return.
