I live in La Crescent MN, just across the river from La Crosse WI, my brother lives in the Cities - we have been meeting at the Smokin' Oak for the past few years every 2-3 months for lunch. Up until today, it has always been an outstanding day for us, good service, good food and wonderful catching up in person. It is about an hour and 1/2 drive for each of us. Today we got there and it was less than a good afternoon - my husband is in a wheelchair - when we arrived they offered us a booth that seats 6 - we took it as my sister and her husband joined us as well. When we wheeled my husband up to the end of the table it was clear it wouldn't work as we had no "leg room" under the booth table once his wheelchair was up close to the table. My brother proceeded to grab a table in the same corner and pushed it up to the booth and we were fine when a different waitress came up to say we had asked for a table and they pushed two together across the dining area from us. No one in our party asked for that and since we were in a corner opted to stay where we were. She had an attitude about that, went back to pull the other tables apart, was noisey doing it and it was obvious complaining about us to co-workers.. very unprofessional - made us feel uneasy - then a young man took our drink and food orders - he was very nice. But, our food took 45 mins to come, fries were luke warm at best - my sister didn't get part of her meal until she was half through with it and then a waitress came and asked if she wanted it then - my sister was very gracious and said she would and thanked her... I feel that because the one waitress was not happy that we didn't move, our service and food was less than it should have been... in the beginning had they offered to put tables together in the first place that would have been awesome. But to make somewhat of a scene "discussing" it for several minutes in the corner with other patrons looking on was not good service. I apologized to the young man taking our orders and he assured me it was fine. However I don't feel that it was at all and we "paid" for it by the service and food we got. We discussed finding another place to meet for our lunches.

Will never go back! We had a complaint about our food quality particularly our chicken being in our opinoin pink raw. The manager and owner refused to listen to us, berated us saying it was smoked and red tinted and the manager actually started grabbing out pieces of chicken from our paid for plate of food with his dirty fingers and popping the chicken into his mouth to prove a point! Disgusting! Raw or not you never ever put your fingers into a customers food. Never in my life have I seen such unprofessionalism in this industry! This owner was so far beyond rude! The entire situation escalated and could have been handled with a quick, I'm sorry you had a bad experience, what can I do to fix it. Rather then continue to escalate the situation, laugh at us, and then kick us out. Will tell everyone I know never ever to spend a dime at this place!
