07/29/2012 - Karen C
I have never had a restaurant experience quite as bad as I had at Lemon Grass. I love Thai food, so I was happy to discover a Thai restaurant in Cleveland Heights. I ordered a seafood noodle dish and asked that it be extra spicy. When my dish came out, it was mostly overcooked noodles (little fish and vegetables) and was completely plain--no sauce or flavoring. It did not resemble any Thai cuisine I have ever tasted. I asked the waiter to please bring me something different, but he refused. He took the dish to the kitchen, added salt, and brought it back to me. My meal was truly inedible. When the bill came with the $15 dish still on it, I asked to speak to the manager, who informed me (in not so many words) that restaurant policy was, "If you don't like the food, too bad"--no substitutions. I explained that it was not simply a matter of me not liking the food--it was that the food was poorly made and I would have been satisfied with another dish. I would not recommend Lemon Grass to anyone because of the food (my friends' meals were mediocre at best) and the service. What kind of restaurant doesn't care if the customers enjoy their meal?! Certainly not a restaurant that expects people to come back a second time....
