Born and raised in Brooklyn, Tom grew up around the pizzerias and Italian restaurants of his neighborhood in Williamsburg. One of those restaurants was even owned by his parents and grandparents. “When you were growing up, you worked in your parents' restaurant or one of their friend’s restaurants to stay out of trouble. It was just expected that you would work at a very young age.” In 2005, Tom moved his family to Florida, but he has remained true to his roots. He passed both his knowledge and his work ethic to his son, Tommy. They opened Gaetano’s together in 2017 with Tom’s brother, Joe. Their restaurant has already been praised by local foodies and is know for being as "authentic as it gets.”
