If you're in the area, you absolutely have to try the food here! The roast beef po'boy is unforgettable, and the fried shrimp and onion rings are delicious too. The owner, Brenda, and the staff are so friendly, making each visit feel like a warm welcome.

The food is great, roast beef can't be beat and the fried shrimp are wonderful.
Some of the best po-boys around and after being on the road for a while when I get back home this is my go to place.
Now the downside, the guy that works in the kitchen he may be the reason the food is so good but he needs to check his attitude, he can be down right ugly and very verbal with comments about customers being stupid for poor out a drink in drink fountain drain, don't walk in close to closing time, I seen him damn near lose his mind when customer walked in thinking they stayed open longer they they do (new hours) when this happened.
He may be a good cook but if he keeps his shot up I will go next door for lunch, to many places to deal with bad attitudes. But damn the food is so good.

People PLEASE!!! If you haven't tried their muffaletta sandwich you haven't had a muffaletta! My wife and I now live in Mobile and on our visits back home always and I mean always make that one of our stops. Do yourself a favor and drop in. I've had many items on the menu and have never been disappointed.

Love this place! My favorite is the soft shell crab sandwich. The roast beef is prepared the way I remember from the 50s and 60s and is hard to get anyplace else. Everyone is friendly and accommodating.

Brenda is wonderful. She's goes out of her way to treat you like family. We love all of the food! Thursday lunch special is my favorite! Chicken fried steak and macaroni and cheese are AMAZING.

Huge portions....awesome value for the money! Food is always served fresh and hot.

Wonderful food. Local, cozy atmosphere (many get "to go" orders). Roat Beef po-boy best anywhere that I have been. Daily specials are only served on the day advertised so don't miss the chicken-fried steak. Really enjoyed the fresh oysters & fish during Lent. Consistently good food at reasonable prices. I highly recommend. The train on Central Avenue is rather inconsistent so if you are in a hurry to get there, take Jefferson highway to Central Ave (go North) to get to Ellen Street. Call ahead & Brenda will give you directions. Best to call ahead to place order anyhow. They get busy with customers during lunch hour.
