Restaurant Description

Modern Mexican restaurant and waterfront beach lounge with sweeping views of NYC open daily for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Reserve a table for dinner or a beach bed in the lounge for lunch! We also offer private and semi-private event options for every occasion, birthdays, company parties, weddings, bachelor parties. We are located on Governors Island, just a five-minute boat ride from downtown NYC. Ferries run every 30 minutes and we also offer a private boat from Tribeca.

Taking a full day off in the summer to hop on the ferry and dive into Gitano is an absolute blast - the energy, the live disco balls, and those unforgettable tacos make it a total vibe. From duck carnitas to roasted cauliflower, the food hits all the right notes, and the cocktails keep the party flowing while the staff ensures you're treated like royalty (shoutout to Alejandra, the hospitality queen!). Sure, the outdoor cushions could use a little TLC, but between the upbeat music, stunning ambiance, and friendly servers, Gitano delivers a fun, unique escape from the city buzz.
