Essence on the South Side serves up some seriously tasty vegan and Caribbean dishes, with great service and a cozy vibe that makes dinner feel special. The fried dumplings with spinach and tofu were a highlight, and even though my black bean bowl wasn't exactly as described, I'm definitely coming back to try more. The chef's attention to dietary needs and the fresh flavors, like the pakora fritters and tomato-based pasta, made the whole experience really memorable.
