Poor management

We went to Diego’s last night to celebrate my best friends birthday. Let me start off by saying both the food and the service were great ! No complaints - delicious selections, great drinks and our waiter was so nice! At the end of the meal I said since it’s my friends birthday, could we order 4-5 orders of churros and could kitchen put it together like a “ tower” or some kind of fun plating. The waiter was excited for the request and said “ let me see what I can do”

After about 15 mins the manager of the night comes out like a food runner and puts two orders of churros on the table and rudely says, “I told the kicthen we are not doing that request”. So on top of being aggressive in her delivery- there was no candle, no happy birthday to my friend-just threw the plates on the table and walked away. Extremely rude and almost shocking behavior.

The resturant industry has had a tough enough time through this pandemic. Now you have this person who is supposed to be the manager basically ruining it for the poor waiter who was so embarrassed that she instisted on bringing out the plates herself and making the statement. What’s funny is that if she brought them out with a candle and said nothing I would have left it alone and thought nothing of it. It was not a demanding request- I was just joking around saying “ wouldn’t it be fun to have a churro tower”. It was something I would have posted on social media and tagged the resturant. Her actions were so rude and obnoxious and basically put a damper on the whole evening. This is not something I would expect from a person in a leadership position.

From a business stand point- I asked for 4-5 orders of churros and she only brought out two. Meaning she lost out on 3 more orders for the bill. In addition, I then ordered an espresso martini to end the night and she told the waiter to not serve the drink as our time at the table was running out. She went out of her way to stop the cocktail from being served! They could have brought me the drink with the check and said “ time guidelines require us to move the table but you can finish your drink out on the patio”. Here she lost yet another item I ordered. So now the bill was about $40-$50 less than what it could have been.

Behavior like this from a manager is concerning. If I was the owner I would not this person representing my brand and establishment. I can’t be the only customer she has pissed off recently. She looked like a miserable mess on a mission to be difcult.

Other than this- it was a great meal. If you do check out this place just be sure to steer clear of a Mangager named Alissa.
