Restaurant Description

Cafe Nuovo's new world cuisine is a fusion of flavors from American regional, European, Asian & Island flavors prepared and presented with the freshest and finest ingredients. Wines include a global variety with strength in American and Australian selections and a focus on high quality discoveries from lesser-known vineyardsaround the globe. Their reputation for spectacular plate presentation is widely acknowledged, it is the skillful preparation and distinctive balance of components that make those creations so widely 'acclaimed'. Their personalized approach to perfect preparation embraces the concept that each progressive course lays the foundation for the next. Their technique is to enhance the natural goodness and basic flavor of each ingredient with lightly infused stocks and subtle essences rather than mask them with heavy creams or butter. All menu offerings, from appetizers to desserts, are created to highlight the finest and freshest foodstuffs available. To that end, a network of the most reliable growers and purveyors strung from local farms to distant markets is engaged to bring the freshest, purest, most appetizing seasonal ingredients available. Hawaiian sea bass, Premium Hereford beef, Denver lamb chops, El Rey Venezuelan chocolate, Epiros feta and Maytag blue cheeses, Niman short ribs, heirloom and Roma tomatoes, Broken Arrow Ranch antelope, as well as organic and petite greens and vegetables - just some of the adventurous harvest they bring to their tables each season.

Well - we were seated at a table right in front of the door and so every time it opened a strong breeze could be felt. We felt uncomfortable but didn't complain. Then as the waiter was bringing our drinks, the door opened and a huge wind toppled over a bottle of beer and a cocktail from the tray the waiter was holding. The bottle fell onto my husband's head and the beer soaked his hair and shirt. What a mess! We spent a good five minutes cleaning up the spill while life around us went on. My husband sitting in his wet shirt, was a good sport. Later we moved to a less breezy table.
No compensation was given. No compensatory dessert or drink was offered, only an apology. No offer to have his shirt cleaned. Nothing!
Great food! Bad business!
And the ONE toilet was disgusting. By the end of the night there was no toilet paper left and the floor was covered in urine. UGH!

I made a reservation at Nuovo three weeks before my graduation for a nice dinner on the river with my family on the night before Commencement. I made an outdoor reservation, because I expected it to be so nice and the location is good (right next to the river), though they warned me that if it rained they couldn't honor it. The night came and it was 70 degrees out and clear skies, so I figured it was no problem. Wrong! When I got there, a man whose body language said he didn't care told me they told me they weren't seating outside because it was too cold. It was 70 degrees! And they didn't call me to warn me (I had given them my number), either. Overall, they were very rude about it, even laughing at me as I left with my parents and brother.

I won't even try to eat at Cafe Nuovo again. There are so many good restaurants in the area -- we went to Napa Valley Grille at the mall, and the food was delicious and the service was excellent.
