The egg tarts and huge pineapple buns here are tempting, and while the service can vary, especially with one attentive server among a few less engaged staff, the authentic Hong Kong-style dishes like HK milk tea, baked ox tongue with rice, and baked grouper with fried rice make it a worthwhile stop in Chinatown, despite some chaos and a need for cash.

The food at VIP Coffee Shop in SF Chinatown is delicious and comforting, especially their HK milk tea and baked pork chops spaghetti. The service may be a bit chaotic and the interior is dated, but it adds to the unique charm of this hole-in-the-wall spot that offers authentic Hong Kong-style dishes and hearty portions.
