01/28/2007 - utterly and totally NOT worth it!
what was good: the cheese plate (and the cheese guy), the seafood sausage, and the waiter who actually paid attention to us and actually had a sense of humor. what was bad: the sommelier who was unbeliveably rude and just stopped coming to the table (even though we'd ordered the tasting menu and the fliights of wine with it) -- and didn't even bring one flight when the dish was served; we had to ask for it. the food was good but not fantastic; it's much better at the local grill in my NJ town where prices are about 90% lower. when we tried to get our coats the rude sommelier ignored me, then said he didn't know where they were and just turned to the next customer to get her coat. .WTF?!? you don't know? we had to ask someone to go in the back and find it for us. lastly, we couldn't get our bill. we'd been there for over 5 hours and had to ask 3 times for the bill, then finally had to go up front to pay for it. the service was chaotic, uneven and rude (except for cheese guy and waiter mentioned above). the prices were laughable -- over $1000 for 4 people for food that was not outstanding (and i'm sorry, for that price it had all better be outstanding). i wouldn't go back here in 100 years and i would never recommend it. for that kind of money you could enjoy 2 or 3 other high-end NYC restaurants and have a pleasant experience.

Beautiful restaurant. The food is excellent and the waitstaff is pretty nice and helpful. Maybe a little stuffy, but I would recommend this restaurant.
