It's truly unfortunate to hear about Merla's closure, as it has been a cherished family-owned restaurant that brought the comforting flavors of home to my table. The food was always freshly prepared, with standout dishes like the chicken adobo, pancit, and those incredible empanadas that I can't forget. I discovered this gem during my early visits to Chicago, and it quickly became a beloved spot for my family gatherings and special occasions.
