I rarely ever write reviews but I felt I needed to share this. My wife and I have been her 4 time (titled this 3 strikes because 3 of the 4 times have been bad). We were very excited to have a steakhouse so close to us. The food on all 4 occasions was very good and prices are very reasonable. Now for the unfortunate part and why we won't be going back. When they first open my wife, her sister and her husband and I went. Everything was great. Food cooked perfectly, ribs were excellent. Second time we went with some friends and their 2 kids as well as our 2 kids. Terrible service. Food was still good for most of us but orders got messed up (loaded baked potato when plain was ordered, steak undercooked which was sent back- after the 2nd time, it came back all cut up and cooked, kids hot dogs came out cold; ok, so maybe not most of us got good food). Waiter kept telling us how he had a double shift and kept sitting on the stairs next to our table, drinks were ordered which never showed up. Waiter was very scattered. The restaurant was only about half full and there were 2 other wait staff. Third experience, went with a family group of 11. Long wait to be seen by the waitress and after that she seemed to disappear. Saturday at 6PM they should not have run out of prime rib. That's unacceptable for a steakhouse especially since it's on the menu as a regular item and not just certain days and times. We were there for about 4 hours waiting for food. It was somewhat busy but 4 hours is also not acceptable. Food again was mostly good.
Last experience just occurred. We were giving it one last chance since the food has been good and reasonably priced. I had gotten a Giviton deal (Giviton.com- pay $10 get $20 for food; offer still available there and has been for several weeks). 6:15PM on a Wed. and my wife, kids and I were the only people in the place (when we left at 7:15PM, no one had come in either). First problem, after trying to order the prime rib, waitress said they don't have any today since they can't afford to cook a whole one with the slow business (I don't think they realize why their business is slow). Service started out fine and I was cautiously hopeful that we might still give it another chance after. Waitress came by twice in the early part of our meal to ask how things were then didn't see her for a long time. When she did come by, she didn't offer to refill my wife's water or ask if I wanted another beer. Fine, I guess I didn't really need another beer. She gave us the check and I gave the Giviton deal as well as a $15 off for over $50 which expired yesterday. I sort of threw this in as a test. I had a pocket full of exact same coupons that had expiration dates of 5/15/11, 4/30/11, 4/15/11, etc) so they obviously run these coupons all the time. Our Meal was $53- 2 -14oz ribeyes, kids steak and mac and cheese and a Guiness- I think a great price. The Giviton deal was accepted but the $15 off wasn't because it was expired (by 1 day). That may have been expecting to much but if you don't have customers, you should at least bend over backwards to make the experience the best for the customers that do come in.
The writing is on the wall regardless of if they want to see it or not, things are not right in their restaurant and I'd be surprised if they are still open in a month. With a simple fix of better service, they could have made a killing in this location. Guess I'll have to wait and see if some other steak house opens in it's place once they can no longer afford to stay open.
