We ate at the Big Boy in Sanford a half a dozen times over the past year or so, and always enjoyed their food and service. Sadly, last Wednesday, 10/6/11, we decided to eat there and upon arrival found that they had shut their doors for business, and checking the Big Boy website, there are now no locations in Florida left.

I don't know what other reviews you've read about this restaurant but unless they were glowing they just don't know the truth. This is written in February 2011 after visiting the Sanford Big Boy - a clean, well outfitted, attractive restaurant that harkens back to the glory days of Big Boy restaurants while showing up-to-date styling and crispness.
Of course, the main reason I went was for the Big Boy and its famous sauce - being somewhat of an expert having been a regular at a number of Big Boys in virginia from the 50's... I was looking for the exact sauce. While this is the closest sauce I've tasted yet (not totally there.... but close enough to be very good) I wasn't really disappointed. The service was impeccable, Heather even bringing me an extra little container of the sauce to dip my burger in.
Their menu, unfortunately, pictured the "red" sauce on their Big Boy (there were two choices originally - red and white... I'm a white kind of guy) but they actually serve the "white" sauce.
Service great, food great, sauce - close enough to be almost great - and they've upped the ante by making the burgers bigger than the original (no more ordering two!). I found the whole experience positive enough to write this review - and I've never written a review for a restaurant before...ever!

I went to this BigBoy and the service was terrible. The waitress spent her time talking to her friend at the counter.

I was so disappointed with the new burgers of big boy, that I had to write a negative opinion. I have 57 years and I remember how big and delicious they used to be. I stopped by in the Sanford location to get one "BIG BOY BURGER" to go at my way home to Tampa from Jacksonville. I thought that I would get one big hamburger as I used to eat when I was 15 years. When I got home I found a McDonald hamburger that cost me $7.00!!! Did I order the wrong burger? NO. My mistake, not checking the bag to go that was delivered to me. Shame of you.
