My wife and i spend a week in Newport every summer. We have done this for the past several years and established a list of restaurants we love to visit. This place is off our list after this year. From beginning to end, our experience was horrific. We went for a late lunch around three , place was not too crowded. waiter finally brought a beer and an ice tea we ordered after about 15 minutes, and then scurried off to the kitchen for another 10. When we tried to order appetizers, calamari and mussels, he told us in no uncertain terms that "No, you are not going to have either of those menu items, they were out of them " I kid you not, his exact words. I mentioned to my wife that may have been good information to have had a half hour ago and he walked away again, obviously annoyed at my comment. We finally placed our order for a salad with salmon and a lobster roll. after another interval of at least thirty minutes the items were dropped on our table by a very young timid girl ( Waitress, runner? ) who spoke with an irish accent. we tried to ask her a question but she too ran off back to the kitchen. The salmon on the salad was a huge piece and was you guessed it, completly raw in the middle. when our waiter finally returned we asked him if there was a way to have that remedied. so another 15 minutes pass and my wife receives a burned , flavorless piece of salmon over the same greens we hadsent back that were now wilted and soggy, brought to us by another young woman who barely spoke and seemed scared to death. . I walked over to try to find manager and saw the source of her distress, a chef standing infront of an open kitchen cursing and reaming out several more obviously young frightened waitstaff, not making any effort to tone down his expletives even as I walked by two times. When I finally did get a hold of the manager, all we really wanted to do was get out, He took the salad off the bill but made no attempt to buy the drinks, of which we were never offered another round during our nearly two hour fiasco of a lunch . don't know what happened to this place, we used to enoy it and never had a problem. All I can say right now is H2 OH NO!!!
