Thank god a new owner has taken over. Alot of the old customers are back. The new paint job really makes the place look like a real tavern.

I don't know how this place is still open. I was told I would not like the place, but gave it a shot anyway and let me tell you, I was grossed out by the atmosphere and the attitude the woman (the owner) has. Why do people spend time in a dump like that? I guess birds of feather flock together. Man what a freaking dump. Can't see the place staying open much longer.

Try the fried pickles, THEY ROCK! The bartenders make some creative cocktails.

i really don't know how to rate this place. i love to hit the local bars far and wide. i do appreciate a good "dive bar" and this would be one. but a dive bar is all how you take it in. the local crowds where everyone knows everyone was comforting. the talents behind the bar were exceptional, from the creative drinks to the different personalities between the two ladies behind the bar. i had a blast with there conversations and how well they interacted with one another and how much they seemed to be enjoying there time at work. i decided to take the plunge and order a special of the day which so happened to be a haddock with some sort of lemon butter sauce. i must say for a pub this was no "pub food",amazing!, it was definitely worth going back for, and telling your friends to come and try it out! but one thing i must say i was not pleased with was the owner herself. in all my years i have never experienced something so degrading in my life and it wasn't even directed towards me. the owner who i assume her name is Maggie, was beyond drunk, screaming at customers, and degrading her employees it was nauseating. i have never seen such an unprofessional, disgusting and putrid woman in my life. its sad. to the bartenders and there amazing drinks and smiles, to the cooks and the amazing food and happy bellies and to the local folks of Salem thank you for a great time! as to the owner i feel sorry for you, you have a good thing going and a great team to make your dream come true, respect and integrity go a long way. learn from them they seem to know alot more then you...

The cook was delicious!! I highly recommend him!!

Sorry, I didn't try the food -- my mouth was full all night! ;-)

Seriously the food was amazing! The guy cooking there is not a cook -- he's a CHEF of the highest caliber. I don't know why he's wasting his time making bar food when there's a real 5 star restaurant waiting for unbridled talent such as his. One thing's for sure, they're not paying him enough for the quality fine dining cuisine that he produces. Recommendations: Try the Pastrami Ruben au poivre with pomme frites-- It's so good, you'll immediately forget you're in the bowels of Salem, F-ing, New Hampshire.
