I love the Nostalgia of places like this that is the sole resin for even the single star, The family who opened and started this restaurant had a lot of love for the area and pride in their establishment this much was obvious. I’m assuming that they are no longer involved in anyway. My wife and myself frequent the area from out of state. We love the boardwalk and enjoy the shopping.

When we came in to be seated the young girl at the front seemed to be distracted and was very slow to help us. I would have overlooked that had the entire experience not been so displeasing.

Let me set the scene there is a plentiful amount of original history to look at. The family, the wall art, the ocean just outside of the windows. All in all we were one of 5 maybe 6 tables in the establishment that was accrued by a hostess, and about 6 other staff member a bartender and the cooks. I’m not sure how many of the 6 were servers as I only saw two actually doing anything.

We were brought out some warm rolls and butter
They were very good ( probably the second best part of the meals) we then ordered the shrimp and crab cocktail which was also very good, except for the fact that I had asked for melted butter for the crab and never received it. My drink (Dr. Pepper) was dry the entire time unless I flagged down a member of the staff. My wife’s coffee was burnt and never got touched, her water never came. We saw our server enough to put in our order and have it dropped off and that was 100% it. The rest of the time the hostess him and what I’m assuming was the manager we’re huddled behind the counter entertaining and gossiping amongst each other.

After looking at the menus I asked the server what their beefsteak meal was it sounded to me as if it was a beef Chuck pounded and semi cubed covered with caramelized onions and seasoned with fries and veggies. My wife had ordered the chicken teriyaki with fries and veggies. We bothe received a clam chowder cup before the meal….. this is where it becomes obvious there is no love left in the establishment. We live out of state in Nevada (the desert) our seafood restaurants out here out the clam chowder to shame in every aspect you could imagine, the chowder from a restaurant on the warf with fresh fish plentiful all around was beat out in flavor, texture, and overall quality from a state that has to have their seafood trucked in. In my opinion if I had to guess I would say it was from a powdered mix cambels or progresso would top the clam chowder we received.

Onto the entrées as I described above our meals were pretty simple and easy as this eas to be lunch before a day of activities.

My wife’s plate was brought out first. About half of a singular chicken breast ( when I say half imagine taking a chicken breast and butterflying it down the center) all in all it was about the size of 4 McDonald’s chicken mcnuggets before breading……. It was covered in teriyaki sauce and dryer that most beef jerky. It wasn’t expensive but it also wasn’t a $15.00 plate the fries were surprisingly good as they were breaded and seasoned. The vegetable looked as though they were last nights mixed with the night before to make a whole new catastrophe.

As I said before I ordered the beef steak at just under the price of their New York steak. It was a $22 plate the New York was $25 ….. are you ready for this? It was a hamburger patty Burt to a crisp with onions piled on it and zero seasoning. The onions were Sautéed but defiantly not caramelized, they were still crisp and tart. Again the fries were the star and the vegetables were scary.

I digress into rating the food the firs were the star of the show followed by the shrimp and crab cocktail then the bread, everything else was just short of garbage.

We are not the type to pick on or complain to get comps so we patently sat waiting for our waiter to bring us our bill as we hadn’t seen him all meal, after about 20 minutes my wife approached the hostess and asked if we could pay it there. She replied she would have our waiter bring it as she had no way of taking payment as she didn’t have a bank. The hostess then proceeded to sit there without trying to contact our waiter. We finally approached the hostess stand again after another 10 minutes and complained as we had places to be and we’re not getting any help. Finally another waitress transferred our ticket to herself so she could check us out. The only problem was she didn’t have her bank either so she couldn’t make change. As I said we were already trying to get out of there so that we could get to our scheduled activities…. The mystery spot so we opted to leave the change and she ended up with a very pleasant tip in the transaction…. Close to 25%. So I’m conclusion if you would like to throw $100.00 away for two people , poor service and terrible food this is where you want to go.
