Embarrassing awful. We could only eat from the buffet. ALL the food was cold—eggs, sausages, hash browns, and the hockey puck of a chicken fried steak. The experience would not be complete without the mention of a lack of paper towels in the restroom. The only good fortune was my wife decided not to eat.
Total bill ~ $20.
Last visit to Hill City Cafe except for the Health Department.

This place is Kool, these folks are Kool, i always order what i like* never been much for experimenting while Dining Out so my meals are Great !

We went in around 2:30 pm on Friday June 24th 2022. It wasn't busy. I saw the sign that said wait to be seated & waited then a woman told us (rather abruptly) to seat ourselves. We found one and sat down. I left the table to use the restroom. When I returned no one had even greeted my husband or offered a drink. An employee sat near us wrapping silverware but expertly avoided eye contact. In addition a waitress walked by our (obviously empty menu-less) table multiple times all the while conversating with silverware lady or purposely avoiding eye contact) hubby was ready to go but I said let's give them 5 more minutes (which meant we would've been there around 15 min with not so much as a greeting other than the grunted seat yourself). After 5 more minutes we ended up leaving. On my way out I overheard silverware lady mumble "how did I get so lucky". I'm not sure if she was referring to us leaving or something else but that was our fun experience.

We called in a pizza order. First the person on the phone couldn’t get our order right and it took 3 try’s. Then we went to pick it up and there was no record of our order! The person on the other end of the phone never put our order in! She forgot! No offer of a pizza, just a very weak and inexcusable excuse and sad apology. We left hungry, and VERY UPSET! Will NEVER order from here again or recommend the cafe to people. Waitstaff needs to be MUCH better. So disappointed!

On 10-2-18 while in Hill City stopped into Hill City Cafe, was approached by a young female who had an attitude like I hadn't seen in awhile, after sitting down and placing an order with another lady, who also was very abrupt like it was a pain to wait on us, I waited approximately 45 mins for a burger sandwich, all this while seeing all employees talking friendly and joking with what appeared to be locals. I guess this Cafe does not like tourist business. Next time to Hill City I will darn sure not go to Hill City Cafe
