We visited a beautiful park in Tennessee with plenty of hiking trails, a quaint gift shop, and a small museum, enjoying the serene surroundings, a scenic swinging bridge, and the promise of returning in the spring to witness the vibrant bloom of the trees and shrubs, while appreciating the friendly staff, well-maintained facilities, and the plethora of activities for families to enjoy.

Took a drive to Fall Creek Falls Restaurant today to see some of the colors along the way and to have lunch at the new lodge and restaurant. When I told the maitri de that there were four of us, she asked if I could give her 20 minutes. I wasn't told what the other choice would be. but I assumed it would be to go back where we came from. We went out and waited 30 minutes, then were called to be seated. There was a lot of people waiting and several vacant booths and tables. We were given menus and within 15 minutes a drink order was taken, at which time we ordered an appetizer. When she brought them back, we told her we'd go ahead and place our order. Which we did. We enjoyed some fried dill pickles, coffee and water and having given our order when the appetizer was brought to our table, we assumed it wouldn't be too awfully long before our meal arrived. An hour and a half later our food arrived. One lady ordered chili and it was soup, very thin soup, not what any cook would call chili. Two of us ordered the smothered chicken and thankfully we were given a very large steak knife, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to cut it. It was overcooked., and dry as though it had been setting out a while. My veggies were good, but the rest of it, I can't say anything good about it. It was a lovely drive, and I remember in years passed the food was excellent and the staff was more friendly. Sorry to give such a bad review, but I can't justify a better one.

Awful experience… was told there was only a 30 minute wait.. ended up waiting over an hour . Plenty of open tables so not sure what the problem was . Once we were finally seated , we were told they were out of the fish and chips . It was a Friday night and there was a big event planned at the park for Saturday so the hotel was packed . How do you run out of a menu item on a Friday night ? Will not go back . Sad because the renovation and park is beautiful… they should just go back to the buffet style . Whoever is running the restaurant can’t plan for and handle it

We were excited to try the new restaurant but ended up being extremely disappointed. It was very low quality cafeteria food at best.

review_stars 02/21/2022 - A Long Time Spencer Original
This restaurant previous to the renovation was wonderful. Friends from Chattanooga and Knoxville came to eat the delicious food. Since the renovation, presently, the food is way lacking! There is no option for vegetarian or gluten intolerance diets. Also the food is just poorly prepared. We have gone to the restaurant 2 times and both times were very disappointing. We are all hoping they will make some significant improvements. Spencer is a small town and a decent restaurant could be busy every night. One of the reviews spoke of a salad bar??? That was many years ago. There is no salad bar. The restaurant is also quite small. We don't see how it will manage the number of tourists that come to our park every year.

We have waited patiently for the restaurant to open, like so many of the locals, hoping that we would once again have an option for good food, served in a beautiful location. We have been to the "new" restaurant on three occasions, the first one being during the "soft opening". The food was OK at best, fish tacos were fishy and soggy, the Frito pie was a handful of small Fritos and a glob of what tasted like canned chili. The waitress forgot one of our parties order altogether so we ate dessert, which was canned banana pudding without any hint of real banana pieces, while their meal was being prepared. Disappointing but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Second trip tried another menu option, the Pasta dish, was average but very oily, Again, lots of bugs to work out. Third visit was for the "Valentine's Day" special. $80 per couple, not including drinks or tip. We expected to sit at the restaurant overlooking the lake but instead got herded into a conference room with dimly lit candles and a hushed atmosphere. Server was very inexperienced, the two options were shrimp (which arrived undercooked) and prime rib, which was overcooked and was more like sliced pot roast. The baked potatoes were cold and the salad was bland. Server had never heard of Caesar Dressing. Appetizer was a watery spinach dip that was not as good as what you could buy already made at a local grocer. Dessert was either a slice of sickeningly sweet cheesecake or a chocolate brownie with ice cream. We will not be repeating any "special occasion" visits again. We will return and continue to bring friends but we hope that given the time and expense in opening the restaurant that they will make an effort to improve not only the food quality, but the service as well.

Clean, comfortable, excellent service, superb food! Short waiting time, nice view of the lake. Fair prices! We had the chicken tenders, catfish, sides and free salad bar. Very GOOD!
