Cancun Mexican Restaurant is a complete nightmare. We were a party of 7 (4 adults and 3 children)
All 4 adults have spent years working in the hospitality industry so I am posting this review as someone who knows what the heck is going on. Half of the party was told to seat themselves when they walked in. The waitress (???) put some chips and salsa on the table and walked away. We figured she was coming back to take our drink order. 10 minutes later the rest of our party showed up and still no drinks, no silverware, no menus, nothing. Another 10 minutes went by and the children kept asking if they could just get something to drink. The waitress(???) kept refilling the tea of the surrounding tables but would not take 1 minute to take our drink orders. In fact she was making sure not to even make eye contact being all of us were staring her down. Finally as she passed by again with a pitcher of tea in hand so I said “Excuse me..” she kept walking. So I said it again so loudly she stopped and looked at me. Just as loudly I said “Yes, hello, can we please get something to drink?” She just walked away and then propped herself up on the corner of the bar. The restaurant was extremely noisy but when I asked her to help us (Very loudly) the place went quiet and everyone looked at her NOT WILLING to serve us.
That was when the grown up waitress stepped in and had our drinks, flatware, menus and food orders taken all in a time frame of 5 minutes. We received our food and it was pretty bad. We were starving so we ate what we could paid the tab. We tipped a basic 15% I know that sounds bad we usually always tip 20 to 25% because we know the business but this place was terrible. 2 of us didn’t want to leave a tip at all but the grown up waitress did begrudgingly take care of us. I don’t care how long the wait is everywhere else on the Island don’t come to Cancun Mexican Restaurant.
