We have eaten here and I do love their queso, hot sauce and soup. They are very friendly too. BUT they served the worst tamales that I have ever tasted. I was very disappointed. Canned ones are better than these. AND don’t use your debit card- they tack on a tax if you do.

My husband had some business in Kilgore so we decided to order food from El Sombrero. I found a menu on internet for El Sombrero so we decided to order 2 Burrito Loco and 1 Beef Fajita Nachos. And the menu I found on internet read
" Burrito Loco$10.951 stuffed 10" flour tortilla with choice of beef or chicken, rice, and beans, topped with chunks of beef tips, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and our famous white queso. " and
"Fajita Nachos
Served with onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and nacho cheese.
Beef Fajita Nachos$8.95
Chicken Fajita Nachos$11.00"
My husband walked in El Sombrero and ordered the food and when he got home with it I asked how much did it cost. He looked at the ticket and it was over 60 dollars. I couldn't beleive it.
I called them and was told that we must have ordered from an old menu. That the Burrito Loco was $19.00 and the Nachos were $13.00. I couldn't believe the Burritos costs $19.00 for what we got. We got a small Burrito with rice, beans, and a small amount of meat covered in white cheese. A plastic bowl of runny guacamole, sour cream, and pico in it all mashed together, not even a spoonfull of each. There was 2 tiny bags of chips and tiny cup of salsa. The beef fajita nachos were good but it was a small plate of that with mostly chips.
I could not believe it. The food was good but not for that price.
$19.00 for a small burrito with mostly beans and rice inside. Very disappointed in El Sombrero. They need to do better than that if they don't want to loose all of their business.

Best authentic Mexican food you can get. Home of the white queso. Food is fresh, attentive staff, and live mariachi.
