Perfect country hospitality and bbq! While my wife and I were on vacation with my Daughter and her Family in the Shenandoah Valley region, by local recommendation we found Apple House to be a local gem. This unpretentious roadside diner grabs you the moment you walk in. With its café, diner and gift shop combination, it is a great change of pace from the big box, run-of-the-mill road-kill chains you'll find on the highways! These folks not only know hospitality and wear great smiles, but have the Owner's own fantastic pulled pork BBQ that is to die for! Made uniquely flavorful by slow cooking over hickory, apple, and oak, with their own Virginia BBQ sauce, it's served with cole slaw, kettle chips, and a pickle spear - - and made in their own smoker you can see coming from the parking lot... they even made one end of the smoker with pig ears, nose and mouth - really cute! Ya gotta try their side of waffle fries with a slight kick... incredible! And, make sure you do not walk away without getting some of their fantastic apple cinnamon donuts... WOW! Next time we go hiking in the valley, horseback riding at Jordan Hollow, day tripping along Skyline Drive, or picking apples or peaches at nearby Stribling's Orchard, we're definitely stopping by! Apple House is highly recommended for the folks, ambience, comfort, hominess, hospitality, great tastes and plain good Country bbq vittles... Bon appétit!
