They'd been open for about two weeks, or so, when we ate there.
The food bar wasn't as full as it could have been. They were way over-staffed, but the service was a little slow. They seemed very friendly with their Black patrons, but although they were polite, they were more perfunctory with the White patrons.
This was indicative of a coming failure; surely enough, we drove by two weeks ago to see it closed on a Friday afternoon; then called today, to hear the automated telephone company Not-in-Service recording.
The landlord has been described as unwilling to keep the building up. The buffet was the highest price that any owners in recent memory had ever charged, which surely played a significant part in the restaurants failure. Plus, the folks running Charlotte weren't acting like the usually successful restauranteurs, and in addition, they were probably under-financed.

Charlotte's Restaurant is CLOSED.
