Won't be going back to Portabellas anymore.
One thing I didn't miss while living away was the crap service that you generally get in this area more often than not when you eat out. After 12 years of food service, I pay attention out of habit.
In 20 minutes we didn't receive a greeting, I had to get up and get our menus, no one stopped to get a drink order, and watched three tables before us get up and leave because they weren't being waited on either. All while servers were more focused on cleaning tables than the customers who were waiting patiently to be waited on. The final straw was when a party table came in, a table was cleaned off for them, and someone finally asked if we had been waited on and when a server was told to get us (a server who had walked by us at least 15 times) said "No, I'm getting that party table!". My response was "Nope, we are leaving!". The woman who I assume was a shift leader or assistant manager said "Ma'am you don't have to leave, I'll wait on you." My response was "No, that's what you should have done to begin with, when we told you we hadn't been waited on and you tried to hand us off to someone else. That server was more concerned with getting the party table while we had been waiting for service for 20 minutes and your servers were more concerned about cleaning tables than waiting on now four tables that have walked out in the last 20 minutes." She had absolutely no response and I see why they constantly have a "help wanted" sign in their window. I certainly wouldn't have stayed an employee with them very long in my serving days because I wouldn't have been making enough money for my liking with four tables walking out in 20 minutes and guests having to wait such long times on service, they can't possibly be tipped well. Knowing the prices on their menu, they lost at least $300 in sales in 20 minutes. Also knowing the severely lacking service during our previous visits, I'm really not sure how they are staying open or profitable. I had an old GM that used to say "The only thing worse than losing a well trained and efficient sever is keeping a poorly trained and lazy server". We encountered the perfect example of that statement today and we certainly don't mind taking our business elsewhere and we did, and we won't go back. It's unfortunate because years ago we use to receive wonderful service, enjoyed frequenting the establishment, and supporting local businesses, but not anymore.

I love Italian food, and Portabella's is the best Italian Restaurant you can go to.

This restaurant the food is okay but if you ask for delivery I promise you promise you they will forget at least two to three things you'll get no sauces you'll get no salad dressing if you order anything to drink you will not receive that they drive into your driveway blind even if you have children around the only one there that is polite or nice his name is Wayne. This is the one in Bluefield West Virginia not the one in the mall the one in the mall is very good

Great family restaurant, with friendly staff. Everything I've tried on the menu, is delicious, and portions are very generous.

My first time there even though it is a little less than 3 miles from my house. ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and a Greek Salad. Two very nice and friendly ladies wasted no time to take my take out order. In less than 5 minutes my order was handed to me. Absolutely and without a doubt the best Philly Cheesesteak I have EVER had bar none. The Greek Salad was wonderful as well. I will be back and back and back because the food was really the best.

I was ignored when I walked in to purchase my take out order. I waited approximately 5 minutes, and only received service when another woman walked in to pick up her order. I was then asked to wait some more so the other woman could be rung up first. Fist come first serve and equality is not part of their policy and procedures apparently.

Excellent quality food at great prices! Large portions on plates! Friendly waitress and atmosphere! Clean and quality so hard to find but it's all there at Portabella's!! Looking forward to Portabella's Italian Restaurant coming soon to Princeton, WV as we LOVE their food! Sorry Pasqualies and Olive Garden but your quality has gone down, prices have gone up and you just don't have it anymore!! Everyone needs to go to Portabella's if you LOVE Italian food at great prices and try it just once! What have you got to loose? NOTHING if you love a wonderful night out at fine dinning and great prices! My family have been there so many wonderful times and will keep going back until they extend another Portabella's here in Princeton,WV and we are really looking forward to that day!! Try it..you just might love it!! " PORTABELLA'S IITLIAN RESTAURANT"!!!
