There is a new trend in town and it is taking place every night at Tango Du Chat, a comfortable bar in an upscale lounge setting offers everything from fifteen varieties of wine by the glass, liquors for every discernable taste and if you prefer beer, they have a selection of thirty different flavors from all over the world. In the lounge you will find a wide variety of clientele:from the young urban professionals to the elder sophisticates of the town. . .essentially the mix of people is as diverse as they come, lending culture with a southern charm to this fair city. If you are in the mood for a meal with culinary flair at a fair price, look no further than the adjacent dining room. Conceptually designed to offer communal dining, the high back banquettes and raised level seating are as comforting as they appear. A polished maple and purple heart floor is the perfect foundation for this room. Dimly lit, this area is an ideal location for a romantic dinner or a large gathering of friends or colleagues. The menu is an excellent me'lange of classic French, Asian, north African and American. Fresh herbs and spices, local ingredients and an ambitious collection of unique ideas are emphasized through out the menu. By the time you have finished dessert, your experience will leave you awed, your appetite conquered, and yet your wallet left intact. Regardless of your taste, Tango Du Chat has what you are seeking: a warm atmosphere with plenty of exceptional food and drink choices, a charming romantic feel and an exclusivity rarely found under one roof. Come over, this place has everything.

This place looks great and that is all. The food is a culinary nightmare, obviously someone is in charge that doesn't have much experience in the food service industry. This place has the potential to be a fantastic restaurant. Let's wait and see what it will become....

Ate there the other night and the food was wonderful. The prices have change so much..I think the most expensive entree is 24 dollars. Heard the chef left and was very curious how it would go. I have to say seems like nothing has changed but the prices. I would love to go back and I think everyone should check it out.

What made Tango du Chat great was there chef. he is now gone. The place is terrible now.
I hear he was a little nuts, so what, who isn't? His cooking was great as you can see from all of the others who seem to be in agreement.
Shame.

I went a couple of weeks ago based on a suggestion from some other friends. The service was slow, even though the place was nearly empty. It took about 10 mintues to get our first drink order. I ordered an appitizer (calamari), but when it arrived, I was told that the chef didn't have as much as he thought he did so the 1/4 portion would be on the house. Fair enough, but maybe I probably would have substituted another app if I had known I wasn't getting the full portion. Once the meal arrived, the wait staff didn't return for quite a while (the manager came by after about 20 minutes). I was missing a portion of my meal and was nearly through with the rest of dinner before anyone managed to come by to check on us. My wife and I split the bill with another couple, but the waitress managed to so thoroughly confuse who ordered what that we ended up just paying what was provided to us on the bill. The food was great but way over priced. A friend ordered the scallops for about $32. She got 3 scallops, though when asked the waitress indicated that 4 came with the meal. Other meals were similarly overpriced. Mixed drinks were of high quality and very good. I probably won't go back.

This is my favorite restaurant!
The flavors and combinations are mind-blowing.
You absolutely have to try this place.
Charlie and his crew have an amazing place that looks, feels and tastes sophisticated but approachable.
Try it - you won't regret it!

I am rarely surprised by restaurants in the US. And I was not expecting much in this department out of my recent trips to Wilmington. I could not be farther from the truth! I was completely blown away by Tango Du Chat! After my first visit there, this restaurant became the only place in Wilmington I would consider when time comes to experience true culinary masterpieces. I have tried nearly every item on the menu, and every time I was astounded by aroma, taste, presentation, freshness and soul of each dish. I can’t compare them. It would be like comparing paintings, poems, or other works of art. The chefs are true masters. Charlie is a wonderful host. The stuff is very friendly, attentive, and also very professional. Tango also has an excellent vine selection. Overall I had an unforgettable experience.

Ate there the other day. The meal was amazing. I dont understand why it isnt that busy. People of wilmington please go see this Man in action. He is crazy, that is in a good way. His pairings are unreal, everything flowed together. I had the Duck with lemon parsley pancakes, out of this WORLD. This resturant could make it in any major city. To bad people of wilmington, dont understand how lucky they are to have such an amazing chef grace the presence of wilmington. My hat goes off to that guy for his persistince with expectional food. Good luck in the future hope amazing food keeps getting produced. AGAIN PEOPLE OF WILMINGTON PLEASE GO THERE.

I googled Tango du Chat for directions and found these reviews and tried it this last weekend. It was superb. The food was unbelievable and the service was excellent. Charlie is a wonderful host and the chef cooks with a rare grace. A true marker for Wilmington.

This, by far, is my favorite Wilmington restaurant. Attending to every detail, the chef even purchases fresh herbs from a nearby herb farm. Every bite of every dish is infused with familiar flavors blended in unexpected ways.

Ouststanding in every way. I was blown away that there was not a line out the door all the way to new york or some other larger city.
I was only visiting but i will never forget this restaurant. Try the halibut. Or anything else really.
