Great food...

review_stars 08/13/2021 - Disappointed
We visited around 3:30 and the hostess was distant, didn't look us in the face or seem interested..The bread was cold and the prime rib sandwich wasn't great and my vegetable linguine was warm not hot. The server was sweet and knowledgeable, the food just had no flavor.

If you like very spicy crab cakes made with a little bit of crab and a lot of breading, Elijah’s is the place for you.

First of all the service was really great--but if you want grilled seafood this is NOT the place--My wife had a salad with shrimp and I had the seafood platter but grilled--
The shrimp and scallops were not cooked and the flounder was undersized--I don't believe it was legal--only about 6 inch fillet--two oysters--the total bill was $55 (not mixed drinks) not including tip
This was out anniversary dinner out--very disappointed

Amazing the oyster Rockefeller. The best I ever had in my lifetime.

Great experience at Elijah's. January lunch on the river was amazing. I had the crab dip for an appetizer and it was so good. For my main course I had the tuna sandwich. It was cooked perfectly and so fresh. The service was excellent, and fast. I would definitely recommend eating there. I will be back!!!

Elijah's was ok. The view was great but the food was nothing special. I was expecting a little more.

This is a follow up from a review I left recently.
Although I still feel strongly about certain issues from my past experience to Elijah's credit the owners contacted me and were sincere as to concerns and observations that I left. I felt that they would take action as to my concerns and have left me with a good feeling as to continuing doing business. I was sincere as well that Elijah's had been one of my favorite places in Wilmington. I will keep an open mind. Believe it is worth a try and Sunset is indeed beautiful. Good follow up from a bad experience. Still believe that staff needs a good kick in the A__!Review May of 2010

I have lived in the area for 16 years and have always enjoyed eating in your restaurant and bringing out of town guests to eat also. Today I was VERY disappointed with my lunch. One of my favorite things to order has always been almond chicken salad. Today the chicken was hard and dry and the bleu cheese dressing was runny and had no bleu cheese in it. I hope this was a one time occurrence and not an indication that your food is not as good as it has been in the past.

Well let me start with saying I am OK with a problem until the solution is not customer oriented. I went there for dinner Saturday evening, it was early so it was not crowded. We got out food and it was luke warm at best, sent it back considering it was a $20 plate and a $25 plate. What appears to be is that they stuck it in the microwave, I had the mix grill, with that was shrimp, mahi mahi and salmon. Besides it being luke warm it had great flavor until I got it back now my shrimp were rubber and the fish very dry. This was there answer. WILL NEVER GO BACK. After we ate there and was talking with some people who were staying were we did, we are not the only ones with bad experience. If you go to Wilmington stay away from Elijah's.

I believe a restaurants rating is not only about the food, it is also about the entire experience and I recently had a terrible one at Elijah's. On May 27, 2009 as I was trying to enter Elijah’s restaurant, a place I had (until this point) frequented since 1989. I was approached by a young man on the street and he said some very unsettling things to me, this made me extremely uncomfortable. I am fully aware that downtown can be dangerous, especially to women who are walking alone. So, having this knowledge, as I entered the restaurant I made the staff aware of the fact there was someone approaching people in an aggressive way in front of their establishment. Long story short when I notified the manager, a Mr. Boney Ives, of this situation it seemed he could not have been less interested. Even worse, Mr. Ives was aware that I thought an employee looked very similar to the person that approached me earlier on the street, (though I never accused him). This surprised me because as I mentioned before I had been a loyal customer for 20 years, and all Mr. Ives could say was “what do you want me to do about it.” I wrote a very detailed letter about this incident to the owners of Elijah’s and have received no response. So, in the future if I am going to eat downtown I will go to a place where the staff and management have a genuine concern about the safety and welfare of their customers. I must say I don’t see how I could feel comfortable going back to Elijah’s when it was made very clear to me that the management had absolutely no concern about my well-being.

The out door atmosphere on the river is great and the food on two different nights was excellent. We were able to relax and take our time watching the river and the sunset. The seafood, including the clams on the half shell, salmon and shrimp, was expertly prepared just the way we like it. Watch the menus though as they had different food descriptions and prices. The servers were friendly and attentive. Some were obviously new. Something should be done about the hostesses though. On both evenings they were less than friendly and seemed put out that we were there. They didn't smile or have anything nice to say. Very officious. After a nice cold adult beverage I got over that though.

We are locals and this is our favorite restaurant in the area. We go here for almost all of our special nights out to celebrate and also to just relax for lunch. We never get tired of the view of the river and the sunsets. We almost always go on July 4th to eat and watch the fireworks. When the weather is right, a meal out on the deck is very relaxing. Good food and great service at a reasonable price as well. Can't go wrong here.

Five of us met for dinner and we had great crab dip followed by different seafood entrees, all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. The view was great. The cost of the meal was more than we expected but not a bad value.

Maybe it was the late hour on 6-20-08 when my family arrived at Elijah's. The food was terrible, extremely disappointing. We had eaten there in the past on our visits to Wilmington and the food was enjoyable, but not last week.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but Elijah's is wretched. The food just keeps getting worse. The seafood is like something out of Cap'n D's. When my wife wanted to go there (she likes the view) last week, I ordered a salad, thinking that might work. I got a chicken salad which consisted of a big glob of mushy chicken salad on iceberg[!] lettuce, and surrounded by fruit. The canned, packed-in-syrup pineapples was a nice touch, and the cantaloupe had a pickly texture. As old Nancy Reagan used to say, just say no. Don't go. You'll keep imagining that the food can't be as bad as it is, but it will be horrid.

Great Food, Great View, Great Place to have a good meal while being able to take in the view of the river and the sunset. Went to several restaurants in the area over our vacation. I will be returning to Elijah's for another great dinner. I recomend you try the Mixed Grill !!!!

Beautiful view of the river from their back patio. Excellent food, but is a little pricey. Amazing crab dip!
