Hirschbeck’s Sports Grille is family owned and operated, the family having long standing ties to the community. Mark and John Hirschbeck were born and raised in Stratford, Connecticut. They became the first brothers to ever umpire in the hisory of Major League Baseball. During their career both were promoted to crew chiefs and went on to work numerous All-Star games, Play-off games and World Series.
Mark was on first base September 16, 1988 for Tom Browning’s perfect game between the Cincinnati Reds and L.A. Dodgers.
Mark worked the World Series between the Yankees & Padres in 1998 and in 2001 the Arizona Diamondbacks and the NY Yankees.
On August 7, 2007, John was behind the plate for Barry Bond’s record breaking home run #756.
On October 7, 2010, John was behind the plate for Roy Halladay’s no hitter which was the first in Playoff history.
John worked 3 World series, in 1995 Indians vs. Braves, 2006 Tigers vs. Cardinals and in 2010 Rangers vs. Giants.
