Axel's in Merrimack offers delicious lobster rolls and whole belly clams that are worth trying. The portions are generous and the staff is friendly, providing a pleasant experience overall. If you're a fan of fried seafood, Axel's is a great spot to satisfy your craving.

we ordered a clam plate a scallop and a lobster roll . the scallops were so burnt i thought they were steaktips my sons lobster roll was missing any hint that it had lobster in it and my clams were also way over cooked . each order only had about seven very crispy french fries in it . we returned the scollops and they did replace them but still were overcooked .

Ordered fish n chips and whole belly clams yesterday cause of the picture on web site and they don't look anything like the picture and they TASTED WORST THEN THEY LOOKED! Not sure how there ice cream is but i will never find out cause i will never come back.

they have no service line which can lead to and has led to being cut in line, eventually someone will get upset over it
as far as speed of service, very slow unless there is no more than 2 people ahead of you,

Axel's serves a mouth-watering lobster roll for less than $10! If you are in the mood for an affordable summer-seafood lunch look no further.

I believe that Axel's is an outstanding addition to Merrimack's family-owned and operated businesses. Places like Axel's are disappearing and it is important to keep such a community treasure alive. That is why we make it a point to patronize this fine walk-up often, always assured that we will enjoy delicious food and desserts in a friendly atmosphere. We bring summer visitors to it, so they, too, can experience this fine slice of Americana. Three cheers for Axel's!!!

Perfect Casual Seafood Takeout, Ice Cream Take Out. Picnic Table dining. location right on main street, so only should have rated it a 3....but other than 'atmosphere, convenience good. Food took a little long to package for a Take-Out, but that was all forgiven since good food takes prep, and mine was a PERFECT 10 for the Clam Strips I had. Never better in a 'hot dog/ice cream' kind of place....and it seems the other reviews ditto my sentiments. I highly recommend this for first meeting kind of dates on a nice day if you are out doorsy....Ice Cream stand seems very popular with locals as well.
Service, although slow since this is not McD's drive thru for a reason.....included take out with a service and server who could have been in 5 * restuarant, treated me and my food with quality care. All go-withs in my take out were perfect...but best was the food itself...and that's why this gets my highest accolades !!

Just returned from this place with my wife. Today is Wed the 3rd of Sept. Clamroll costs $8.50 and same had six clams in it! That is almost $1.50 per clam..Wife had a scallop roll- Same thing 7 scallops!
Food is okay, but priced way out of line. Left there hungry after spending twenty-three Fifty for a clam roll, a scallop roll order of rings and one coke which we shared! Recommend you bypass this one and go down the road to King Cone for a far better value!

My family loves Axels. We have never had a bad meal there. The seafood is the best around. Can't wait till they open for the season. Been craving clams and haven't found a place that compares to them.

I have to disagree with the previous comment about axels having good all around seafood. My clams tasted like bait and the service was very stuffy. Food quality and customer service are an issue.

Excellent hard ice cream. My husband's favorite flavor is "Bubble Gum". They recently purchased new tables and have trees to sit in and stone benches to sit on.
