Crossing the street from my hotel in Queens, I found an unassuming spot where the thick sandwiches burst with authentic Dominican flavors, from savory pollo guisado to tender goat curry, all at incredibly reasonable prices. Despite its humble grocery store vibe and bustling lunchtime crowd, the vibrant, home-cooked dishes and friendly service delivered a satisfying, flavorful experience that had me coming back daily throughout my stay.
